Review of Zanzibar’s private dolphin, Jozani Forest, Kuza Cave, Paje Beach and The Rock tour, with honest tips on value, safety and timing.

“Good tour. Guides were polite and kind. Only feedback is to have better pickup communication. I called to ask about pickup times, one too many times. I did not know if and when I would be picked up until 20 minutes before (after calling again).”

3.Zanzibar full day Jozani forest + Spice farm and stone town

★★★★★★★★★★4.7 · 90 reviews · 1 day · from $90

Review of Zanzibar’s full-day Jozani Forest, spice farm, and Stone Town tour, with practical advice on wildlife, value, pace, guides, and what to bring.

“Unfortunately I have to give one star. I was looking forward to this activity and I informed my tour guide with time that my flight was cancelled so I was not able to make it. I kindly asked to be rebooked being as it is a pricey tour via a call which they stated they would. I messaged them and they never responded back. I recommend booking with other companies who would be more helpful for unexpected circumstances. I had other tour guides understand and help me. Very disappointing.”

4.Jozani nature walk and wildlife tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 89 reviews · 3 hours · from $98

Explore Zanzibar’s Jozani Forest, spot red monkeys and elephant shrews, then visit mangroves on a private three-hour nature tour.

“A Jozani erdőben a program kb 1 órás volt. Bolyongás az őserdőben, majomles, gyönyörű környezet. A mangróve erdőben egy gyaloghídon lehet sétálni, még fotók készítésével sem több, mint fél óra. Az idegenvezető nagy tudású és végtelenül udvarias volt, jó angol tudással. Az ár-érték arány picit túlzó. De az élményért megérte.”

See Zanzibar’s rare red colobus monkeys on a private Jozani Forest tour with hotel pickup, multilingual guides, mangroves, and flexible booking.

“Takes a while to get to jozani which is expected for a remote island. But we had an air conditioned car and it was a private tour which was unexpected! Drive was really scenic, driving past villages, schools and spice farms. The roads are quite bumpy and there’s a few police stops. The monkeys were really cute but you can’t hold them or touch them like the photos (which isnt the tour companies fault). They werent in a forest, more of a local village with some trees and bushes. The mangroves ARE in the forest, 5 minutes away. Nice quiet walk over the wooden bridge and the guide gave a…”

7.Prison Island, Tortoise, Jozani Forest Guided Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 68 reviews · 6 - 8 hours · from $100

Review of Zanzibar’s Prison Island and Jozani Forest tour, with tortoises, red colobus monkeys, snorkeling, transport, costs, and practical tips.

“The conditions for the tortoises on Prison Island are poor. The place is not a sanctuary or a conservation center. The tortoises are kept in a small, fenced area with many tourists. They cannot move freely, and their environment feels unnatural. Overall, it seems more like a prison for tortoises than a place focused on animal welfare or protection. I would skip prison island and only go to jozani forest. The guide and driver, transportation and everything else was great. We got to see red colobus monkeys on their natural habitat in jozani forest.”

“Timur, our driver, and Alen, our tour guide, were very kind and helpfull. Both of them looked out for our wellbeing throughout the whole day ! My husband being more comfortable in french, we had asked for a French speaking tour guide so Alen made it very easy for my husband to understand and learn about Zanzibar since he spoke very well french. Any questions we had both explained to us everything till the last details and in the end Timur spoke about life in Zanzibar which was really nice to hear about as I was not sure how he would react to my question on how people feel living…”

The activities were spectacular, especially snorkeling and the Rock Restaurant which were very picturesque. Abdul is amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable. It's a MUST if you don't have a lot of time in Zanzibar!!”

Review of Zanzibar’s Jozani Forest Tour, with red colobus monkeys, mangrove boardwalks, hotel transport, pricing, tips, and honest drawbacks.

“The driver was 20 minutes late which was very worrying and meant that, rather than being amongst the first to arrive at the forest, we were beaten there by a large number of tour buses. The tour itself lived up to expectations, with plenty of monkeys despite the torrential rain.”

Explore Zanzibar’s spice farms and Jozani Forest for red colobus monkeys, local food, village life, mangroves, and tropical fruit.
